At this time, we have closed our wait list due to the high demand. We are currently unable to accept any new patients until further notice. We will still continue to work through those who are on our waitlist when capacity is available with each of our Family Doctors.
Please note, Dr. Joshua Magnusson is only accepting new patients referred by the Burnaby Divisions of Family Practice. Dr. Magnusson is not able to take any new patients that have not been referred by the Burnaby Divisions of Family Practice.

To my patients,
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that I am going to be closing my practice at Imperial Medical Clinic towards the end of June 2022.
I have truly loved and cherished being allowed into your lives and I am very grateful for you entrusting me with your health. This has not been an easy decision but at this time I need to focus my attention onto my young family.
I understand how difficult the situation of finding a family doctor is and I truly apologize for any distress this news causes you. Unfortunately none of the other Doctors at IMC are able to continue your care in my absence and I recommend
- Visiting the Pathways Medical Directory (pathwaysmedicalcare.ca)
- Contacting HealthLink BC using 8-1-1 toll-free number (or 7-1-1 if you are hearing impaired) or by visiting their website at healthlinkbc.ca.
- Contacting your local Divisions of Family Practice (divisonsbc.ca), as some are establishing physician directories.

- Visiting a local walk-in clinic or Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC). UPCCs also serve as primary care clinics for people who do not have a regular primary care provider and will work to connect them to a primary care clinic as space is available.
- Asking friends and family for recommendations.
Logistically, after the 25th July 2022 I will no longer have access to reviewing any test results or letters from specialists etc. Imperial Medical Clinic will be unable to hold any responsibility for these so please do inform any specialists that you see to no longer address letters to myself/Imperial Medical Clinic or to copy me into any lab work.
Since your medical records are confidential, a copy can only be transferred to another doctor or released to you with your written permission through an authorization for release of medical record form. If you would like to receive a copy of your medical records or transfer them to another physician, please contact Imperial Medical Clinic. Please note that there is a fee associated with the transfer of medical records in the amount of $65.00. You may email completed forms to drsnrecords@imperialmedicalclinic.ca

🇨🇦Short trips 72 hours or less by land and air🇨🇦
Starting November 30, 2021, Canadians or individuals who have right of entry, qualify as fully vaccinated travellers and who re-enter Canada within 72 hours of leaving, won’t have to provide a pre-entry molecular test result. This will also apply to their accompanying children under 12, regardless of whether or not the children are vaccinated.
- Individuals with right of entry include: Canadian citizens, permanent residents, those registered under the Indian Act, and their accompanying children under 12. Check if you qualify as fully vaccinated
- For example, a Canadian citizen who left Canada on November 29, 2021 and returned on November 30, 2021 and who met the requirements of the fully vaccinated traveller exemption, would not have to provide a pre-entry test result
You will still need a COVID-19 test for entry to USA or another country.
🇺🇸 New USA COVID-19 Test Entry Requirements 🇺🇸

All air passengers 2 years or older with a flight departing to the US from a foreign country at or after 12:01am EST (5:01am GMT) on December 6, 2021, are required show a negative COVID-19 viral test result taken no more than 1 day before travel, or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days, before they board their flight.
- Air passengers will also be required to confirm in the form of an attestation that the information they present is true.

2021 Flu Shots

Imperial Medical Clinic will be receiving our supply of Flu (Immunization) Shots for the 2021/22 season.
As COVID-19 restrictions ease, we can expect a return of influenza circulation in the community. Influenza – or the flu – spreads very easily, and can cause serious complications or death in vulnerable people, including young children and hospital patients or long-term care residents. You can spread influenza for 24 hours before you have any symptoms, so you can pass influenza on to your family and friends before you even know you are sick.
The most effective way to prevent the spread of influenza is by getting the influenza vaccine, staying home when sick, and washing your hands regularly.
So far, we have received the following flu vaccines stocked:
Fluzone Quadrivalent (2021-2022)
FluLaval TETRA (2021-2022)
FluMist (2021-2022, for ages 2-12)
FLU SHOTS are available for the next 3-5 weeks, every:

COVID-19 Vaccine 3rd Dose
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A 3RD DOSE?
People who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive a third dose of vaccine. The group includes:
Solid organ transplant and taking immunosuppressive therapy
- People who have had a solid organ transplant. May include a heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas or islet cells, bowel or combination organ transplant.
- People who have received an anti-CD20 drug for a malignant condition since January 2020.
- People who are receiving or received systemic therapy (including chemotherapy, molecular therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies including CAR-T, monoclonal antibodies, hormonal therapy for cancer) in March 2020 or later. This includes solid tumours as well as hematologic cancers within this time period.
- People who are receiving or received radiation therapy for cancer in October 2020 or later.
- People who had bone marrow or stem cell transplant in September 2019 or later, or are still taking immunosuppressant medications related to transplant.
- People with combined immune deficiencies affecting T-cells, immune dysregulation (particularly familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) or those with type 1 interferon defects (caused by a genetic primary immunodeficiency disorder or secondary to anti-interferon autoantibodies).
- People with moderate to severe primary immunodeficiency which has been diagnosed by an adult or pediatric immunologist and requires ongoing immunoglobulin replacement therapy (IVIG or SCIG) or the primary immunodeficiency has a confirmed genetic cause (e.g. DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
Active treatment with the following immunosuppressive therapies:
- People who received treatment since January 2020 with any anti-CD20 agents (such as rituximab, ocrelizumab, ofatumumab, obinutuzumab, ibritumomab, tositumomab).

People who have been treated since January 2020 with b-cell depleting agents (such as epratuzumab, MEDI-551, belimumab, BR3-Fc, AMG-623, Atacicept, anti-BR3, alemtuzumab).

People who have been treated with biologics since December 15, 2020: abatacept, adalimumab, anakinra, benralizumab, brodalumab, canakinumab, certolizumab, dupilumab, etanercept, golimumab, guselkumab, infliximab, interferon products (alpha, beta, and pegylated forms), ixekizumab, mepolizumab, natalizumab, omalizumab, resilizumab, risankizumab, sarilumab, secukinumab, tildrakizumab, tocilizumab, ustekinumab, or vedolizumab.
- People who have been treated with oral immune-suppressing drugs since December 15, 2020: azathioprine, baricitinib, cyclophosphamide, cyclosporine, leflunomide, dimethyl fumerate, everolimus, fingolimod, mycophenolate, siponimod, sirolimus, tacrolimus, tofacitinib, upadacitinib, methotrexate, dexamethasone, hydrocortisone, prednisone, methylprednisolone, or teriflunomide.

People who have been treated with steroids orally or by injection on an ongoing basis since December 15, 2020: dexamethasone, hydrocortisone, methylprednisolone, or prednisone.

People who have been treated with immune-suppressing Infusions/injections since December 15, 2020: cladribine, cyclophosphamide, glatiramer, methotrexate.
- People on dialysis (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) or have stage 5 chronic kidney disease (eGFR <15ml/min) or have glomerulonephritis and receiving steroid treatment
